5/26/2022: NYSPHA signed on to a letter to the leadership in the House and Senate Subcommittee on Labor, HHS, and Education, Committee on Appropriations, in support of $153 million in funding for CDC’s Social Determinants of Health program. Click <here> to read the letter.

4/28/22. NYSPHA signed on to a letter to Congressional leadership organized by the American Academy of Pediatrics in support of $50 million in federal gun violence prevention research funding to the CDC and NIH in Fiscal Year (FY) 2023. Click <here> to read the document.

4/27/22. Signed on to a letter to Congress sponsored by the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists and other groups to support an appropriation of at least $250 million for the Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). 4/6/2022 -  NYSPHA signed a letter to Congressional leaders sponsored by the Friends of HRSA coalition recommending the provision at least $9.8 billion for discretionary HRSA programs in the FY 2023 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies appropriations bill.  Click <here> to read the letter.

3/17/2022 - NYSPHA signed a letter to Congressional sponsors supporting the  Sober Truth on Preventing (STOP) Underage Drinking Reauthorization Act. Click <here> to read the letter. 

2/9/2022 - NYSPHA signed on to a letter to the Senate sponsored by the American Lung Association to support the climate provisions included in the House-passed Build Back Better Act to transition the nation to clean, renewable electricity and clean transportation will avoid the worst health impacts of climate change and achieve immediate improvements in air quality and health.  Click <here> to read the letter.

2/8/2022 - NYSPHA signed on an endorsement to Congress in favor of S.3479, the Building a Sustainable Workforce for Healthy Communities Act. This bill would provide insurance coverage to pay for community health worker services

1/31/2022 - NYSPHA signed on to a national letter sponsored by APHA and the American Lung Association to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator on EPA's proposal to limit the release of methane.  The proposal is prudent and necessary to mitigate the immediate and long-term health risks resulting from the extraction, transportation and storage of oil and gas. The letter urges EPA to follow the science and strengthen the proposed standards for new and existing sources, and quickly finalize them into law.  Click <here> to read the letter.

11/30/2021 - NYSPHA signed on to a letter by the CDC Coalition to the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate Appropriations Committee in support of the CDC in the next federal budget.  The letter urged that they include at least the House-passed level of $10.5 billion for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s programs in any final FY 2022 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies appropriations bill.  Click <here> to read the letter.  

9/16/2021 – NYSPHA signed on a Safe States Alliance Vision for a Nation Free of Injury and Violence. This can be achieved by ensuring the nation has a robust, effective public health and prevention infrastructure built upon a series of essential components for injury and violence prevention.
