The New York State Public Health Association (NYSPHA) is an affiliate of the American Public Health Association and serves as a statewide organization for members from all disciplines in the public health spectrum including state and county health departments, healthcare; policy and advocacy organizations; community based health and human service programs and workers; academia and research. NYSPHA advocates for policies at the national, state and regional levels that support equity in health status and an end to health disparities for all. NYSPHA is among the nation’s oldest, independent, nonprofit public health organizations. We serve as a broad-based statewide organization devoted to promoting and protecting the health of all New Yorkers. NYSPHA is a membership-driven organization. We routinely check in with members and other public health professionals across the state to ensure that what we offer continues to meet the evolving needs of the profession. We recently conducted a survey and series of focus groups to inform New Directions for NYSPHA. Our Board of DirectorsAs a statewide, multi-sectoral public health organization, we have a Board of Directors that is representative of our membership and capable of bringing a level of expertise to our Association through their various educational and career experiences. Members of the Board of Directors include representatives from fifteen organizations in New York State and have expertise within school-based health; oral and rural health; maternal and child health; epidemiology and bio-statistics; healthy eating and physical activity; community public health education; tobacco-free living; policy and advocacy and regional health planning. |
CommitteesWith our mission to protect and promote the public's health throughout New York State, it is only through active member participation that we are able to achieve our goals. At NYSPHA we have long-standing and emerging committees that our members are actively involved with in an effort to drive our association's efforts.
