Webinar: Addressing Public Health Knowledge Gaps in Lead, Water, and Air Quality
July 11, 2024, Noon-1p

Learn more about lead prevalence and risk planning as it relates to the older homes of New York State. That knowledge gap will then be followed by seeing how many people know about their water or how to check their water and how safe it is. Finally, participants will learn about an intervention project on this issue completed in Washington State and how we can attempt similar projects here in New York State.

Speaker BioJoseph Xavier Rainwater-Cummings (Public Health Sanitarian, MS, EPA Lead Risk Assessor, Certified Food Protection Manager) just goes by Joe. He is passionate about equity and public health upstream changes that cause generational gaps. He studied Japanese, American Sign Language, Mandarin, and German 20 years ago at Clemson. He picked up some Spanish during Covid and for environmental health inspections and works to communicate with each person based on where they are.

Learning Objectives: Participants will learn more about lead prevalence and risk planning. They will also learn about water and how to check for safe water. Finally, participants will learn about Air Quality monitoring and safety.
