You are invited to join the New York State Public Health Association and New York State Association of County Health Officials for a 2019 fall workshop: Public Health Impact: Cannabis, E-Cigarettes & Vaping
Nationally known experts in cannabis and public health, Dr. Gillian Schauer and Dr. Lorraine Collins, will address implications for public health, cannabis policy and health equity resulting from a legalized program. As New York State considers the passage of policy to establish an adult-use cannabis program, it is imperative that public health stakeholders unite to prepare for potential implications and learn about policy, regulatory and governance aspects related to legalization.
This not-to-miss workshop will cover the latest information on e-cigarettes and vaping in New York State and what is happening with a ban on favored electronic and tobacco products, plus the upcoming implementation of Tobacco 21 in New York State!
Hear from Dr. Barbara Wallace from the NYS Department of Health, Dr. Elizabeth Whalen, Commissioner of Heath for the Albany County Department of Health, Kim Kessler, an attorney with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's Tobacco Control Program, and American Lung Association National VP, Michael Seilback, for the latest information, the impact on communities and enforcement.
Throughout this workshop there will be built in time for networking with professionals representing local health departments; academia; clinical care settings; community-based organizations and others who value the health and safety of communities in New York.
