About NYSPHA
The New York State Public Health Association (NYSPHA) is a statewide professional organization actively serving New Yorkers, our members, and the public health profession through our efforts and activities.
Our Mission? To improve community health through education and prevention.
NYSPHA advocates for policies that support equality in health status for all. As an affiliate of the American Public Health Association (APHA), we work to influence policies at the regional, state and national levels.
The New York State Public Health Association (NYSPHA) is among the nation’s oldest, independent, nonprofit public health organizations. It’s the only broad-based statewide organization exclusively devoted to promoting and protecting the public's health. Our members represent all disciplines in the public health spectrum, including county health departments, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and academia. They are nurses, physicians, educators, social workers, policy makers, and others dedicated to improving the health of New Yorkers.
Our Mission: Healthy people in healthy communities
NYSPHA works to improve community health through education, prevention and advocacy. We advance "best" practices in public health, and assist our members in promoting and protecting environmental and community health. Through our six regional affiliates, we strive to prevent disease, injury and disability at the community level.
